Today has not been my finest of days. While I was stuck only looking at the negative parts of today, I remembered a quote.
“Even your worst days only have 24 hours.”
This quote has stuck with me for at least over a year now. At the beginning of 2019, I was determined to become a more positive person. No matter how my life was changing or not going smoothly, I started to make a conscious effort to view things in a positive light as often as I could.
However, even the most positive people in the world are not exempt from bad days. Those with lives we wish we could live are not exempt from bad days. No matter who you are, where you live, or how you live, we all experience bad days.
The best part about bad days, however, is that they only last 24 hours each. Now, this isn't to say that a bad day never carries into other days. This happens quite often. While the same issues of one bad day may carry over into the next day, I like to think that a new day allows for a clean slate to face these problems.
I find it reassuring to know that I’ll have another chance at a good day tomorrow. When faced with certain unchangeable circumstances, sometimes the only thing we have the power to do is change how we react to it. Every day, in my eyes, is a new chance to address these circumstances or struggles in a new way.
Our time here is limited. Tomorrow I want to wake up and approach my day with a new attitude. No matter how dramatic or cheesy it may sound, I can never know if I'll have another 24 hours to make it right. Every bad day ends at some point, and another shot at a “good day” happens every 24 hours. It’s definitely not always easy to keep this in mind, but I’ve found that even when I have a hard time believing it, it helps me get through those bad days a little bit better.
Do you agree that even your worst days only have 24 hours, or do you not buy that thinking?

I find myself having a hard time believing in this thinking, not to say I do not want to. I just think that it is wishful thinking. I applaud how positive you are, but I find myself, even in my most hopeful mood, having bad weeks or even months.
ReplyDeleteWhen I ever I have a bad day I think to myself there is always tomorrow. This helps me get through the day and deal with any hardships that I'm facing that day.
ReplyDeleteI have a very similar mentality when it comes to a bad day. I constantly remind myself that for every bad day, there is a good day. If I've had a bad day, I accept it and explain to myself that within the next few days I'll have a good day to make up for this horrible one. You're right that often times the bad things from one day carry out into the next. That happens to me a lot. But starting this year, my family and I went through some things that shook us for a little, but as I was texting my cousin about it near the start of the school year he reminded me to take things day by day, which is what he had been doing. His advice really helped me as I started to take my life day by day, week by week. This brought on my mentality that for every bad day there will inevitably be a good day and even every bad day has at least one positive factor about it, we just tend to over look it due to being consumed in our emotions. I agree with you that every bad day only really lasts 24 hours and that the next day is a chance to start will a clean slate.
ReplyDeleteWhenever there is an issue that I have to deal with, I always remind myself that it will fade away eventually no matter what it is. I remind myself that tomorrow is a new day if I ever find myself having a bad day.
ReplyDeleteI personally think that every new day is similar to a reset button. When you wake up in the morning, your mind, body, and attitude has reset. However, if you are still dealing with those same negative issues at the same intensity, then you will go right back into that headspace. A new day gives your thoughts and feelings a chance to reset, but that doesn’t always mean it will happen. Many of our problems are long term, which often means our feelings towards those issues did not change. Although waking up to a new day can give you the chance to have a positive attitude, sometimes our problems are too overwhelming for that to happen.
